The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in the Zentrum für Integrative Psychiatrie (ZIP - Centre for Integrative Psychiatry) is responsible for all paediatric and adolescent psychiatric health care in Kiel. Treatment is delivered via 40 inpatient clinics and 15 day clinics, a psychiatric outpatient institute, as well as a special outpatient department for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Research focuses on the experimental investigation of memory processes as well as emotional, reward and olfactory perception in child and adolescent psychiatric patients. The research into our primarily psychophysiological studies (EEG, fMRT) focuses on children and adolescents with attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), in particular.

The research activities are supported by the Collaborative Research Centre 'Plasticity and Sleep' (CRC (SFB) 654; 2005-2017). The department has its own research laboratory and is linked with numerous institutes at Kiel University and other national and international universities.
