Brief CV

Professor Dr. Claudia Baldus is Director of the Medical Department II specialised in hematology and oncology at the University Medical Center Schleswig Holstein (UKSH), Campus Kiel. In July 2020, she was elected as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

From 1992 to 1999 she studied Medicine at Saarland University, Homburg, as well as Freie Universität Berlin. As a scholarship holder of the Dr. Mildred Scheel Foundation, she did research from 2001 to 2013 in the Human Cancer Genetics Program at the Ohio State University, Columbus/Ohio (USA). After her specialist certification in internal medicine, Claudia Baldus received her habilitation and her venia legendi in internal medicine in 2008 and subsequently worked as a senior physician for haematology/oncology and tumour immunology at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Benjamin Franklin (CBF). In 2011, she received an endowed professorship of the Dr. Mildred Scheel Foundation of the German Cancer Aid and from 2013 onwards, she was initially deputy and then interim head of the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Tumor Immunology (CBF), where she significantly developed the field of translational molecular leukemia research. In 2016, she was appointed to the W3 Professorship for Molecular Leukemia Research at the Charité. In 2018 she followed the appointment to the W3-Professorship for Internal Medicine with focus on Hematology and Oncology to Kiel.

Claudia Baldus' research focuses include the integration of special haematological diagnostics and the continuous development of cellular therapy methods.
