Institute of Clinical Chemistry

Director:

  • Prof. Dr. med. Ralf Junker

The range of services provided at the Institute of Clinical Chemistry includes all modern laboratory medical procedures. A fully comprehensive medical laboratory diagnostics service is provided to the departments and external submitters of laboratory samples. This is carried out in close co-operation with the other institutes of the campus-wide diagnostic centre at the UKSH.

The Institute has four specialist areas which are characterised by a particular technical capacity and appropriate specialist expertise: coagulation diagnostics, auto-immune diagnostics, therapeutic drug-monitoring and clinical molecular biology.

Research in Clinical Chemistry is application-focused and aims for both continuous quality assurance and further improvements in laboratory diagnostics. In addition, scientists at the Institute carry out fundamental research focusing on hemostaseology, auto-immune diseases and health economics.
